Visiting College of Idaho scored two goals in a 15-second period in the second half - the first an own goal - and went on to beat Evergreen, 3-1, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer match played on an unseasonable warm Saturday afternoon at Capital High School.

The Coyotes (7-8-1 overall, 5-5-1 CCC) assured themselves of a berth in the eight-team conference postseason tournament with the victory while the Geoducks (0-13-2, 0-10-1) see their season come to a close.

College of Idaho took the early lead at 7:08 when Sabrina Mallett was in the right spot in the middle of the box to slam the ball home for her third goal of the season. Her shot was the third in a sequence that started with a corner kick and included a save and a blocked shot.

Evergreen knotted the score at 1-1 at 39:06 on Maddie Lockwood's first goal of the season. The play also featured Evergreen's first, and only, assist of the 2017 season.
Madison Early's throw in from deep down the right side found Lockwood, who quickly turned and scored past College of Idaho goalkeeper Brittany Houghton.

The Coyotes finally broke the game open, and quickly, about 10 minutes into the second half. They made the score 2-1 on an Evergreen own goal following a scramble in the goal mouth. That score came at 54:44, and just 15 seconds later the visitors were again on the board when Emma Powley dribbled in behind the Geoducks defense and slotted the ball to the far side netting from about 10 yards out.

After a first half that saw both teams take nine shots, College of Idaho started to gain control against 11-player Evergreen as the game wore on. Final shots showed the Coyotes with a 20-13 advantage, and they also held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

Emily Sorenson recorded nine saves for the Geoducks while Houghton was called on to make eight saves for the visitors.

Evergreen's only senior, Haleigh Ryneski, was honored by her team prior to the match.
