PORTLAND, Ore. – Multnomah (7-23, 3-17 CCC) capped off their season with a victory on Senior night over the Geoducks (7-19, 4-16 CCC) of Evergreen, 84-78. Darius Redrick led all scorers in the contest with 27 points, along with a strong performance by Senior Trever Cooley, who put up 17. Evergreen's Jarrick Mitchell and Jaurence Chisholm both led their team with 14 points apiece.
With both teams out of the hunt for the playoffs, Saturday night could be described in one word: pride. The Seniors got things going for Multnomah, jumping out to a 7-0 lead in the first five minutes. Trever Cooley instigated the early attack, knocking in 5 of the 7 points. As the first half progressed, Multnomah held to a close lead, eventually taking a 39-33 deficit into the locker rooms. Darius Redrick looked more like himself, leading with 12 points and 4 assist in the first half.
Second half action had both teams trading points until the final minutes. Clinging to a 70-69 lead with six minutes left in the game, Redrick hit a pair of free throws to go up by three. Evergreen answered with six consecutive points to take the lead until Moe Keita's three-pointer tied the game at 75. After a pair of free throws from Redrick and a three-pointer from the Geoducks, the Lions were down by one with under two minutes remaining. In the biggest moment of the evening, Cooley drained a corner three to give Multnomah the lead and eventual win, 84-78.
Stellar performances from Redrick (27 points & 4 assists) and Cooley (17 points) helped Multnomah take the win. Keita added 12 points with nine coming in the second half, as well as Ben Grandle with 9 and Michael Escobedo who added 6 points and 7 rebounds. The Lions improved their shooting as a whole, going 43% from the field and 12-for-29 from behind the arc. Evergreen's Jarrick Mitchell and Jaurence Chisholm both led their team with 14 points apiece.
The victory caps off Multnomah's 2016-17 season with an overall record of 7-23, 3-17 CCC. Special thanks to the six Seniors who finished their collegiate career tonight and everything they have done for the program.
