How It Happened

Walla Walla’s young squad got their first taste of Cascade Conference play this afternoon.  Early in the match, Carroll took several strikes at the goal that proved unsuccessful.  The Wolves kept pressure away from the goal and when a shot did go through, keeper Kohl Tomcho got a hand on it. Eventually, however, Carroll broke through, and Nick Lowrimore took a pass from Nicolas Kryiacos and found a gap in the Wolves defense to score the first goal of the match in the 28th minute.  The Saints Sam Malouf, scored the only other goal of the opening period wrangling control of a deflected ball and weaving through the defense to put up a shot Kohl was not able to get too.  The Wolves went into the half down 2-0.

Carroll wasted little time in the second period, putting early pressure on Walla Walla.  Four minutes into the second, Sam Malouf made a pass to Nicolas Kyriacos who made a one touch finish to the center of the goal that put the Saints up 3-0.  Isaac Bostrom scored off an assist from Henry Smaldon making it 4-0 in the 54th minute.

The Saints would score five more times in the second period.  Walla Walla had their chances to score, but were not able to find the net.  Saints keeper Bernhardt Di Cino recorded the shutout, and Carroll took the match 9-0.
