CALDWELL, Idaho – Marissa Maddox combined for six hits, Courtney Ellis had four extra base hits and Colette Robert tossed a one-hit shutout, all part of a big day for the College of Idaho, as the Lady Yotes completed a doubleheader sweep of Northwest University at Symms Field.

Maddox went 4-for-4, including a walk-off RBI single in a run-rule 8-0 victory in Game 1, while Ellis had two doubles and a triple in the Yotes (16-14, 6-9 CCC) 9-2 win in Game 2. C of I secured the conference series win with the victory in the opener.

Robert dominated the Eagles (11-22, 4-11) in the opener, retiring the first 12 batters of the game – surrendering only a bloop Alicia Loiler single in the fifth – striking out seven without a walk.

The C of I offense picked the lefty up – as a Kylie Smith RBI single in the second gave Robert all the support she would need. A two-out two-run double in the fourth off the left field wall by Kristin Paulazzo extended the lead to 3-0.

The Yotes broke the game open in the fifth – as Bentli Corta scored on a double-steal, Delaney Atkins plated a run with an RBI infield single, with Smith capping the four-run inning with a two-run double.  An inning later, Ellis led off with a triple and scored the winning run on Maddox's fourth hit of the game.

Smith was 3-for-3 and Robert added a pair of hits for the Coyotes, part of a 14-hit attack.

C of I never trailed in the late game – taking a 6-0 lead after four innings.

The Yotes scored twice in the first – as Ellis doubled and scored on a double-steal, with Robert singling home a run. Three innings later, the Coyotes plated four, with Ellis providing the big blow, clearing the bases with a 3-run triple to left.

It was more than enough support for freshman Loryn Fonger, who picked up her first collegiate win, allowing two runs on six hits in five solid innings of work, striking out seven. Ellis was 3-for-4 with three RBI, with Robert and Maddox each recording a pair of hits and an RBI.

Darian Godfrey and Maggie Harshaw each had two hits for NU, with Karrie Barnes driving in the only runs of the day for the Eagles with a fifth inning single.

C of I returns to action next weekend, traveling to British Columbia for a four-game series.
