The Eagles Walk Away from Arizona with a Win!
Tucson, Ariz. – The Eagles wrap up their tournament in style today by finishing the week with five wins and two losses. Northwest was able to take full advantage of the Arizona sunshine and play seven games in three days. The Eagle come back to Kirkland, Wash. to face the Warriors from Corban University on Friday and Saturday.
Game One: Northwest University 11, Roosevelt University 1
The Eagles played strong allowing only three hits in five innings and collecting twelve hits in just four innings. Northwest University started the bottom of the first inning with Sammi Caron singling to left field, Darian Godfrey singling to left field, and Yeawa Asabi hitting a double to right field. The Eagle never looked back and scored eleven runs to end the game in the fifth inning. Roosevelt University started to come alive in the top of the fifth inning when Caitlyn Santiago hit a double to left field, but Rachael Hawley quickly stopped the movement by striking out the next two batters.
Game Two: Northwest 7, Grace College 1
Northwest University was led by Alicia Loiler in the second game when she went four-for-four with three singles and one double to lead her team to a seven to one victory. Grace College had an opportunity to close the game in the top of the sixth inning, being down three to zero, but left the bases loaded. The Eagles quickly responded by scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth to extend their lead and secure the game.
