CRESWELL, Ore.  – The University of British Columbia won their first tournament as an associate member of the Cascade Collegiate Conference, claiming the NCU Invitational championship by seven shots over defending CCC champion Oregon Tech.

British Columbia won with a score of 899. OIT finished with 906. The Owls were able to best UBC by five strokes in Tuesday’s third-round (303-308) but it wasn’t enough to overcome the large lead gained by the T-Birds on the first day.

Host NCU took third place (915) and tied with non-CCC competitor Northwest Nazarene University. Corban University rounded out the top-five with a three-round total of 922.

UBC’s Andrew Harrison (pictured) held on to the individual championship (69-68-77—214) as he defeated Josh Miller from University of Victoria by four shots (74-74-70—218). OIT’s Alejandro Armijo was third (74-71-76—221) and Josh Goins from Northwest Christian University was fourth (71-77-74—222). UBC’s Logan Carter rounded out the top-five individuals (73-75-76—224).

The Cascade Collegiate Conference season rolls along next week as competition shifts to Timberstone Golf Course in Caldwell, Idaho for the College of Idaho Invitational on September 17-18.
