CRESWELL, Ore. – The University of British Columbia and Oregon Tech women’s teams finished in a dead heat after the two-round NCU Invitational on Tuesday at Emerald Valley Golf Club.
Oregon Tech won Monday’s round by one stroke over the Thunderbirds, 314-315, but UBC answered on Tuesday, defeating the Owls by the same score to give the teams a 629-629 tie atop the leaderboard. Non-CCC competitors University of Victoria and Northwest Nazarene University came in third (645) and fourth (658) respectively, followed by Corban University in fifth (714).
The T-Birds Kelly Hellman claimed the individual medal by three strokes, shooting a seven-over par 151 (74-77). Stephanie Koza from Oregon Tech was second (77-77—154) while The College of Idaho’s Natalie Mullins was third (78-77—155). UBC’s Shania Remandaban (79-78—157) and Esther Lee (79-79—158) rounded out the top-five.
The Cascade Collegiate Conference season rolls along next week as competition shifts to Timberstone Golf Course in Caldwell, Idaho for the College of Idaho Invitational on September 17-18.
