Walla Walla Falls to Oregon Tech in Straight Sets

College Place, Wash. – The Wolves hosted the Owls of Oregon Tech on Sunday afternoon on Windemuth Court. A .373 attack percentage led the Owls (14-14, CCC 7-11) to a straight-set victory, 25-9, 25-17, 25-11 to drop the Wolves (1-24, CCC 0-18) on their last home game of the 2019 campaign.
 
The Owls started set one off scoring seven of the first points and did not look back. The Owls extended their lead to a comfortable 17-6 lead before capping off an 8-3 run to claim the opening set, 25-9 behind a .476 hitting clip.
 
In set two, the Wolves were able to avoid an early deficit and built a 10-7 lead after they put together a 4-0 run. The Owls displayed their most impressive stretch of the match, using a Nicole Reyes kill to ignite an 11-0 run to provide the visiting team with an 18-10 lead. The Wolves responded with a 5-1 run, however, the Owls were able to limit the run while continuing to score and eventually won the set, 25-17. 
 
Set three started with both teams playing even, as the Owls held a slim margin, 8-6 in the early stages. The teams continued exchanging points before a 4-0 run by the Owls gave them some breathing room at 15-8. After a kill by Sarah Halversen, the Owls reeled off six straight points and continued their attack, claiming set three, 25-11 and sweeping the Wolves in straight sets.

Oregon Tech was led by Melody Edward (7 kills), Courtney Isom (15 assists), and Amanda Powley (12 assists).

Three Wolves notched five kills to lead Walla Walla, while Krista Schafer recorded 10 assists. 

 
Walla Walla looks to move and put their focus on Thursday, November 7 as they begin their last road trip of the season. The first match against New Hope Christian College is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. The Owls look ahead to their final homestand of the season with Evergreen State College serving as their first opponent. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Danny Miles Court.
