Coyotes Complete 4-Game Sweep of Northwest Christian
CALDWELL, Idaho – Trystin Crofts went 4-for-7 with two doubles and three runs scored, helping College of Idaho complete a 4-game sweep of Northwest Christian with 4-1 and 4-2 victories at Symms Field.
The Yotes (15-2, 3-0 CCC) recorded their first conference series sweep since 2017 and improved their best opening record in program history.
Crofts got C of I on the board in Game 1, roping a 2-out double and scoring on a NCU (2-9, 0-3) error. The Beacons drew even in the second on a Jess Garner RBI single, but the Coyotes put the game away in the middle innings – taking the lead on a Colette Robert fourth inning bases loaded walk and manufacturing two runs in the fifth.
Robert dominated NCU or a second straight day, tossing a five-hitter, striking out eight for her sixth win.
C of I jumped to a 3-0 lead in Game 2 – with Delaney Atkins lining a 2-run double in the 3-run first. The Beacons cut the margin to 3-2 in the second on a Garner RBI double, but the Yotes pitching staff kept NCU at bay, while adding an insurance run in the fifth on a Marissa Maddox RBI double.
Nichole Giesy earned her second win, allowing just three hits in four-plus innings, while Reylene Cortes got the final eight outs for her first save.
The Yotes close out their 15-game homestand on Tuesday and Wednesday, hosting Providence in a 4-game series.
