MEDFORD, Ore. – No. 10 Oregon Tech pounded out 24-runs and 27-hits on the way to a Cascade Conference opening day sweep 13-10 in the first game and 11-1 game two over Northwest University at U.S. Cellular Field Friday afternoon. The Owls improve to 12-6 on the year and 2-0 in CCC play with the Eagles falling to 0-2 in conference and 1-6 overall.

"We had a good day offensively and really showed a lot of heart coming back in game one from a 6-run deficit," said Head Coach Greg Stewart. "Ali pitched great in game two and we continued to swing the bat well. I am really pleased with how our team is competing."

Game 1 Oregon Tech 13 Northwest 10

Tech jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a run in each of the first two innings.

NU took its first lead plating 4-runs in the 4th highlighted by a Sammi Caron homer.

The Eagles built a 7-2 lead with 3-runs in the 5th on a huge 3-run home run off the bat of Alexis Contreras.

The Owls nibbled at the lead with 2-runs in the bottom of the inning cutting the lead to 7-4.

Things didn't look good for OIT as Northwest tacked-on three more runs in the top of the 6th to build their lead to 10-4.

The Owls didn't blink, putting up nine-runs in the bottom of the 6th on 7-hits, 2-walks and 2-very costly NU errors to take the game 13-10 after Northwest was retired in order by Graham.

Shelby Hotchkiss and Graham had 3-hits apiece in the win, with Shayna Ige, Dre Sotelo, Cierra Barkis adding 2-hits each while McKenna Armantrout delivered three-RBI for game highlights for the Owls.

Caron and Contreras had 3-hits each to lead the Eagles.

Loryn Williams picked up the win in the circle to improve to 4-0 on the year.

Game 2 Oregon Tech 11 Northwest 1

After picking up the save and delivering three-hits at the plate in game 1, Tech's Ali Graham out-did herself in game two. She was the winning pitcher in the second game, giving up just one-run and seven-hits over 4-innings to improve to 4-3 in the circle on the year. If that wasn't enough, she hit a grand slam home run in OIT's 10-run first innings as the Owls cruised to the 11-1 mercy rule shorted five-inning game.

Barkis had 3-hits and Ige had 2-hits in game two for OIT.

Ali Graham led the Owls on the day as she was 5-for-6 at the plate, had 8-RBI, scored 4-runs, hit a grand slam, pitched for a win and a save.

Nicola Fish had 2-hits to lead NU in the game 2 loss.

The teams will finish the four-game set with a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. Saturday. Next weekend's four-game series originally scheduled for Great Falls, Montana has been moved to Klamath Falls, on Saturday, and Sunday March 9th and 10th with the doubleheader starting at 12:00 pm each day on the new John and Lois Stilwell Stadium.
