CALDWELL, Idaho. – The No. 10 Eastern Oregon volleyball team finished its non-conference slate with an undefeated record, defeating No. 21 Providence in four sets and sweeping Hope International on Saturday at the C of I Labor Day Tourney.

The Argos looked for an early upset over the undefeated Mountaineers (10-0), winning the first set by a 25-20 score.
The second set proved to be a key one and the closest of the match, changing the momentum in favor of EOU. With the scored tied at 22, the Mounties took three of the final four points to win 25-23.
The Mountaineers used that momentum to dominate the Argos in the final two sets. EOU claimed a remarkable 25-5 fourth set win in which they hit a blistering .520 with 14 kills on 25 attacks and just one error. The Mounties earned the final 10 points of the set.
Providence never fully recovered, dropping the fourth set to the hot Mountaineers 25-16. The win gives EOU four top-25 victories already this season.
Senior Megan Bunn led the attack with 13 kills, adding 11 digs for a double-double. Sophomore Jet Taylor had 12 kills, hit .478 with just one error and a match-high six block assists. Senior Hailee Ackerman added 10 kills.
Junior Madison Pilon recorded 38 assists and 16 digs. Junior Kiley McMurtrey had 29 digs while junior Aspen Christiansen and freshman Sade Williams each added 11. Pilon also had four service aces and Ackerman finished with three.

The Mountaineers ended their non-conference schedule with a sweep of Hope International. EOU used its dominant defense to finish with 17 blocks, led by an incredible 12 block assists by sophomore Cambree Scott. The total is the second most in program history in a single match. Taylor added five, while Pilon, Bunn and senior Taylor Tibbetts each had four.
McMurtrey and Christiansen also aided the defense with great games in the back row, each topping 20 digs apiece (25 and 22 respectively). Bunn had 16 digs, Pilon went for another double-double of 24 assists and 14 digs while Williams had 13 more digs.
EOU will take its 10-0 record into the CCC regular season, starting on the road at Northwest Christian and Corban on Friday and Saturday.
