College Place, Wash. – Walla Walla women's basketball hosted Southern Oregon University Thursday evening. Playing shorthanded, the Wolves could not overcome the Raiders' offensive attack, as the Raiders (9-5, 5-2 CCC) shot 46-percent from the field and forced the Wolves (2-14, 0-7 CCC) into 22 turnovers to lead them to an 80-54 victory.

The Raiders held a seven-point lead after a back-and-forth opening period. The Raiders started the second period on an 11-0 run to extend their lead to its largest at 38-20 using a pestering full-court pressure, forcing the shorthanded Wolves to get out of their offensive rhythm.

Southern Oregon continued to push their lead, extending the lead to 22 with four-plus minutes left in the first half. The Wolves responded, however, chipping away for the remaining part of the half and ending the first half on an 8-0 to trail 46-32.

Both teams could not miss in the first half as the Wolves shot 51-percent from the floor in the first half, while the Raiders shot 58-percent. The Raiders used their bench to build the lead as they accounted for 17 first-half points.

Coming out of the half, the Wolves continued to chip away, cutting the Raiders lead to 11 at 46-35. With the full-court press still in effect, the Raiders responded with a 14-1 run as a Kenadee Honaker three-pointer gave the Raiders a 24-point lead. The Raiders took a 22-point lead heading into the final quarter and would add onto it as they held a 20-plus point lead for most of the final period.

The Raiders were led by Daranda Hinkey (14 points and four rebounds), as all 11 Raiders who played scored. The Raiders received a spark in the paint, outscoring the Wolves 50-28 while scoring 16 second-chance points.

The Wolves were led by the trio of Jacqueline Saucedo (19 points & eight rebounds), Isabella Robles (17 points and six rebounds), and Jaliyah Casem (14 points & three rebounds).

Both teams are back in action tomorrow, squaring off for a second matchup on Windemuth Court. Tipoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
