No. 9 EOU Women's Soccer Shuts Out Providence at Home

LA GRANDE, Ore. – No. 9 Eastern Oregon University Women's Soccer picked up its sixth win of the season on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 win over the University of Providence in a Cascade Collegiate Conference East Divisional match. With the win, the Mountaineers improve to 6-0-1 on the season and 4-0-1 in CCC play.
Before the start of Sunday's game, EOU honored three seniors for their contributions to the program. Honored on Sunday were current players Cailin Koupal and Korilynn Goller and former player Camie Edgington.
EOU came out strong, finding the back of the net three times in the first half to take down the Argos (0-3, 0-3 CCC). The Mounties totaled 13 shots in the first 45 minutes of action to only three from the Argos. EOU ended the contest with 25 shots and eight coming on goal.
The first goal for the Mountaineers came in only the fourth minute when Erika Skindlov dribbled in from the left side of the field and converted on her shot to give EOU the early 1-0 advantage.
It did not take long for EOU to add to their lead, as Morgan Farrington chased down a pass from Kasey Johnson and netted the Mounties' second goal of the day in the 20th minute.
The Mountaineers ended the first half strong by scoring a third goal in the 41st minute when Kaitlyn McLeod hit the back of the net with ease on an assist by Yahaira Chavarria-Mondragon.
The Argos adjusted in the second half and didn't allow as many opportunities for the Mountaineers, but were unable to get anything going on the offensive end, as EOU held them to only five shots for the contest with only two coming on goal. For the game, the Mountaineers had three fouls, while Providence finished with five.
Kaitlyn McLeod finished with three shots and had two come on goal resulting in one goal to lead the Mounties.Morgan Farrington had one goal scored on two shots, both of which came on goal. Erika Skindlov took only one shot on the day which resulted in a goal. Kayla Storm tallied two shots and had both come on goal. In net, Savannah Hutchinson had two saves in 90 minutes of action.
Hannah Eddy led the Argos with four shots and had two come on goal. Sarah Ortega finished with one shot. Goalkeepers Jenna Everts and Dakota Neumann combined for five saves in the loss.
The Mountaineers will host the Argos for game two of the series tomorrow (Monday). Kickoff is set for 11 a.m PT inside Community Stadium.
