KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Warner Pacific scored the lone goal of the game just 13 seconds into the first stanza and held on for the 1-0 win Sunday in the Cascade Conference opener for both schools at the OIT Soccer Field.
"The men stuck to the game plan and executed it to perfection," said head coach
Casey Tate. "We created a lot of chances and controlled the game. It all came down to a big mistake to start the game. The men battled all the way to the final whistle."
Arturo Bahena scored just 13 seconds into the game taking a pass from Hunter Vancleave for the Knights.
The game exhibited hard physical defense by both teams; any shots taken were well earned.
Tech held a 10-7 advantage in shots with the Knights edging the Owls in shots on frame 3-1.
OIT had seven corner kicks with WPU attempting four.
The two teams will lace them up again on Monday at 2:30 pm at the OIT Soccer pitch. Fans are not allowed inside the stadium and dogs are also not permitted on campus.
