CORVALLIS, Ore. – The first weekend of the 2023 Cascade Collegiate Conference Track and Field Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, is set to begin Thursday.
The Multi Events Championships kick off at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Ore., with the rest of the championship meet taking place at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Ore., on May 12-13.

HERE. Awards will be presented at the full meet at EOU in May. The top three finishers in each event will earn All-CCC honors and the top eight will accumulate points that go towards their teams' totals at the final meet in La Grande.
Tomorrow, the men’s decathlon begins at 10 a.m. PDT with the 100-meter dash as the first of the 10 events. The long jump, shot put, high jump and 400-meter events follow on the same day, starting 30 minutes after the conclusion of the previous event.
Friday gets started with the 100-meter high hurdles, followed by the discus, pole vault, and javelin, before the 1500-meter closes out the events.
Seven men are set to compete in the multi events. Four repeat contenders are looking to improve from the last championship, including Lewis-Clark State senior Christian Bothwell. He finished third last year and is currently leading the conference and sitting at No. 7 in the NAIA with a “B” standard of 6322 points. Caleb Moore is also a senior from LC State and finished seventh last year. The Warrior's last competitor is sophomore Justin Krabbenhoft who has a season high of 5701 points, which is an NAIA “B” standard and currently ranks 11th in the nation.
Eastern Oregon University’s Judson Mansfield competed in the championship last year and ended in fourth place. The junior is currently sitting 3rd in the conference and ranked 14th in the NAIA with 5462 points. Also an EOU junior, Israel Miles is No. 5 in the conference and 25th in the NAIA with 5241 points.
After finishing 10th in last year’s championship, University of British Columbia’s Dean Ciarniello is competing again for the first time this season.
Making his championship debut is Oregon Tech freshmen Eli Steven who is No. 4 in the conference and No. 23 in the NAIA with 5298 total points.
On the women’s side, the heptathlon is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m., beginning with the 100-meter hurdles. The high jump, shot put and 200-meter follow on the first day, starting 30 minutes after the conclusion of the previous event.
Friday opens with the long jump, before the athletes compete in the javelin and close with the 800-meter run.
Twelve women qualified for a tough heptathlon championship with seven holding NAIA “B’ standards. Leading the conference is UBC junior Rebecca Dutchak who just moved up to No. 2 in the NAIA last week with 4725 points. Close behind is SOU junior Abi Stevens at No. 4 with 4435 points. Both women finished in the top five at the conference tournament last year.
Sitting at No. 9 and No. 10 in the NAIA is EOU freshman Lizzy Grandle and sophomore Sammy Conley with 4180 and 4119 points respectively.
Oregon Tech junior Ally Odell is ranked 14th with 4028 points. SOU senior Jenna Hodges comes right after in 15th with 4018 points. Junior Karli Bedard follows in 17th with 3984 points to round out the NAIA “B” standard competitors.
Also competing is UBC’s Sarah Pimblett (29th in the NAIA); C of I’s Graycee Litton, Rachel Pletcher, and Roby Young; and The Evergreen State College’s Corona Parker.
