LA GRANDE, Ore. | RESULTS – The reigning champions, the University of British Columbia, jumped out to a lead after day one of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Track and Field Championships presented by U.S. Bank. One record fell as Holly MacGillivray (UBC) shattered the 1500 record on her way to a CCC Championship victory in the race.
With one day of competition down, the No. 2 nationally rated Thunderbirds hold the lead with 105 points thanks to four gold medal performances. In second EOU has 87.5 points followed by College of Idaho in third.

Below is a chronological recap of Friday’s events:
HAMMER: Eastern Oregon University claimed the top two spots in the women’s hammer throw to open the meet. Junior Kenna Woodward took the top spot with the best throw in the CCC this season, an “A” Standard mark of 53.69 meters. Following close behind was Maggie Ledbetter with a throw of 52.70 meters. In third was the University of British Columbia’s Michelle Dadson with a mark of 52.45 meters. Both Ledbetter’s and Dadson’s marks were NAIA “A” Standard marks.
STEEPLECHASE: The College of Idaho took two of the top three spots in the steeplechase led by Sage Martin who posted an “A” Standard time of 10:52.75. Martin’s time sets a new facility record at Banner Bank Track. UBC’s Jamie Hennessey took the second spot on the podium with an “A” Standard time of 11.00.68. The Yotes rounded out the top three with Larissa Mauer’s performance finishing in 11:33.64.
HIGH JUMP: Lewis-Clark State’s Jennah Carpenter came up just short of her own CCC Championship record winning the high jump clearing a season-high 1.68 meters, good for an “A” Standard qualification. Southern Oregon’s Abi Stevens came in a close second with an NAIA “B” Standard mark of 1.65 meters. Rounding out the top three was EOU’s Elizabeth Grandle clearing 1.59 meters.
SHOT PUT: The nation’s top competitor in the shot did as expected winning the event comfortably. EOU’s Maggie Ledbetter won by over a meter with an “A” Standard mark of 14.46 meters breaking her own facility record. In second, the College of Idaho’s Star Herron recorded a throw of 13.26 meters. UBC’s Michelle Dadson wrapped up the top three with a throw of 13.13 meters, another “B” Standard.
4x100-METER RELAY: The top three teams all earned a spot at the NAIA National Championship posting “A” Standards. UBC’s squad of Emma Rastad, Sonya Urbanowicz, Cayla Smith, and Hanna Sobkowich took the top spot on the podium with a time of 46.98 seconds. The College of Idaho finished in second with a time of 47.51 seconds, and EOU finished third with a time of 47.59 seconds.
1,500 METERS: A loaded field saw three “B” Standard times and three “A” Standard times in the 1,500. The top two finishers each broke the CCC Championship record and obliterated the facility record, but it was UBC’s Holly MacGillivray, who currently holds the second-best time in the nation, taking the lone spot at the top with a time of 4:25.54. In second was College of Idaho’s Abbey Shirts who finished with a time of 4:28.30. In third was EOU’s Michelle Herbes with a time of 4:34.59. All three earned “A” Standards.
LONG JUMP: Five long jumpers posted “A” Standards led by UBC’s Emma Rastad who was just shy of a CCC Championship record. Rastad won the event with a jump of 5.95 meters breaking a facility record for Banner Bank Track. It was a tight competition in second as Multnomah’s Princess Browne and College of Idaho’s Addison Trent each jumped 5.88 meters. Browne was awarded second place thanks her second-highest mark topping Trent’s. All three posted “A” Standard marks.
100-METER HURDLES: LCSC’s Madigan Kelly posted the only qualifying mark in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.14 seconds, just .01 second shy of a CCC Championship record. EOU’s Morgan Bayes finished in second with a time of 14.93 seconds. In third, LCSC’s Ashley Britt finished with a time of 15.04 seconds.
400 METERS: LCSC took two of the top three spots in the 400, but it was UBC’s Cayla Smith who finished first. The junior finished with a time of 57.59 seconds. In second and third were LCSC teammates Anika Grogan and Emily Collins. Grogan edged out her teammate with a time of 57.96 seconds.
10,000 METERS: College of Idaho picked up a win to put the finishing touches on day one of the CCC Championships. Ellyse Tingelstad finished with an “A” Standard time of 37:26.64. Northwest University’s Kaylea Hartman earned All-CCC honors with a second-place finish in 37:45.62. SOU took the last spot on the podium as Sydnee Kizziar finished with a time of 37:52.47. Both Hartmand and Kizziar’s times were “B” Standards.
