CORVALLIS, Ore. – The No. 23-ranked Eastern Oregon University men’s soccer team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for October 27 – November 2, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
Eastern Oregon capped a historic week by completing an undefeated conference season and securing the Cascade Collegiate Conference regular-season championship title, both firsts in program history. The Mountaineers finished 10-0-2 in league play to enter the CCC Tournament as the No. 1 seed.
EOU closed the regular season with a pair of decisive home victories, outscoring opponents 9-1 across the weekend. The Mountaineers opened with a dominant 6-0 win over Northwest University, highlighted by two goals from Milton Hernandez, while Anthony Macedo, JJ Gallardo, Jesus Alvarez, and Diego Vergara-Zuber each found the back of the net. Eastern Oregon controlled every facet of play, holding a 23-1 shot advantage and a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Mountaineers clinched the championship with a 3-1 victory over The Evergreen State College. Macedo posted a goal and an assist, Marcos Bravo added his 10th goal of the season, and Daniel Kropf converted a penalty kick to seal the win. EOU outshot the Geoducks 19-6 with 11 shots on goal.
Eastern Oregon enters the postseason tied for the conference lead in shots per game (16.9) and ranked second in total goals (40). The Mountaineers open CCC Championship play as the top seed, facing No. 8 seed Bushnell University at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 8.
