CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Corban University Women's Basketball had the opportunity to battle against the likes of an NCAA DI program earlier today following less than a 24-hour turnaround from their dominant Thursday night win over RV Hope International University, with the Warriors falling 86-45 in Legendary Gill Coliseum for what was counted as an exhibition against Corban's 2025-26 schedule results while the Beavers picked up their first regular season win of their own campaign.
The 41-point margin of defeat doesn't distract from the fact that the Navy and Gold (3-0) forced a well-respectable and historically successful NCAA DI women's basketball program into needing big games from their starting lineup, with the Beavers (1-0) jumping out to a 23-7 first quarter lead but second period scoring qualms provided Corban with an opportunity to pull within single-digits following a 7-0 Warrior run midway through the second. However, OSU would end the half on a 9-0 run of their own and never looked back in their 85-46 home win over the Warriors.
Early offensive woes for graduate student center Emilia Bishop did not deter the Wilsonville native from dropping a double-double performance on the Beavs, as she scored a team-high 12 points with 11 rebounds along the way to tie for the game-high mark in boards alongside two steals and a blocked shot. Redshirt sophomore guard Jersey Huerta pitched in ten points, three rebounds, and two assists, while both redshirt junior guard Jenna Albrecht and freshman forward Haley Ferry splashed a pair of triples apiece to score eight points each.
Oregon State was led by their own double-double effort from forward Lara Alonso, who matched Bishop with 11 rebounds but scored an extra bucket over her for 14 points off the bench. Four more Beavers were in double-figure scoring tonight, including guard Tiara Bolden who stuffed the state sheet with 13 points, seven boards, six steals, and three assists.
The nearly month-long road trip continues into next week for Corban women's basketball, as they'll travel to Newberg for a 6pm matchup with NCAA DIII George Fox University (0-0) inside the Wheeler Sports Complex.
