ASHLAND – Southern Oregon's Kailer Fulton was one of 12 NAIA softball players to earn a spot on the Academic All-America first team, announced Tuesday by the College Sports Communicators.
Fulton, a left fielder who recently completed her senior season for the Raiders, became the fourth Academic All-American in team history and just the second to get a first-team nod.
The honor is designed to recognize student-athletes for a combination of their performances on the field and in the classroom. Fulton carried a 3.69 cumulative GPA into the spring term and graduated with a degree in healthcare administration.
Two weeks ago, the product of Roseville, Calif., was also named to the NAIA All-America second team.
Fulton was a four-year starter at SOU and a major contributor on two national championship teams. She left with a .360 career batting average over 214 games and committed only four fielding errors in four seasons.
As a senior, Fulton batted .419 with 80 hits, 60 runs scored, 25 RBIs, and 39 stolen bases on 41 attempts. Among Cascade Conference players, she ranked first in runs scored, second in batting average and third in steals. She finished the year with 25 multi-hit outings and scored a run in each of SOU's seven consecutive victories at the NAIA World Series.
On SOU's all-time lists, Fulton will leave at No. 3 in stolen bases (99), No. 4 in runs (174) and No. 8 in hits (199).
Fulton is the 22nd SOU student-athlete in any sport to land on a CSC Academic All-America team and the fourth in 2024-25.
