Reis Hits National Qualifying Marks in Warrior Debut as Indoor Season Begins for Corban Track & Field

SEATTLE, Wash. – Only four Warriors were in action to kick off the 2026 competitive season for the Corban University Men's and Women's Track & Field programs, yet a pair of national qualifying marks in an NAIA debut highlighted the day while the remaining student-athletes all impressed with near qualification marks, personal bests, and/or program records.

"Overall, we had a nice start to the season," Corban head coach Todd Bos shared shortly after his programs' 2026 debut. "Of course, Oliver's jumps were the highlight, but all the student-athletes did well. This lets us know our hard work in the fall is moving the team in the right direction. As always, we are grateful to God for the opportunity to compete in the sport we love, and to honor and worship Him every opportunity we have."

It was more than just a Corban and NAIA debut for sophomore transfer jumper Oliver Reis, as the San Antonio, Texas native shined in the horizontal jumps in unprecedented debut fashion. First in the men's triple jump, Reis completed the second furthest leap across the entire NAIA to date in his third attempt, soaring 15.60m to simultaneously best the program record by nearly four meters, hit the NAIA A-standard for National Championship qualification, and win the event in Seattle over numerous NCAA DI jumpers.

Later this afternoon in the men's long jump, Reis fought through an exhausting morning session to complete a 7.02m jump in the opening flight, yet passed on the next two attempts in an attempt to rest his legs. Deciding to give it one more try to hit a qualifying mark, he bested his first leap by 0.19m to hit the national B-standard and was just 0.06m away from the A-standard. His long jump best is also a Corban indoor program record, this one by well over a full meter.

In her first appearance since securing back-to-back All-American titles in the women's high jump, redshirt senior Kayla Morgan fought through an illness to complete a 1.65m vertical launch, far from her program record and career-high yet only a single centimeter off qualifying for the national championship meet. She'll have plenty of opportunities to hit the qualifying mark over the next six weeks of indoor action.

A solid start to 2026 for junior Kirsten Kuenzi had the third-year sprinter running an 8.00 flat in the women's 60m dash, just .02 seconds off her personal best, which also serves as the program record. Finally, freshman Ava Barnett competed in her first career collegiate meet and showed out in the women's long jump, matching Kuenzi's program record with a 5.18m leap in just her third attempt. After a first attempt fault, Barnett followed up with a 5.07m jump and then the record-tying 5.18m jump, an even 17 feet for the true freshman from Grants Pass.

The Corban indoor track & field teams will next be in action a week from tomorrow at the Portland Indoor One, hosted by NCAA DI University of Portland at the Chiles Center, beginning at 11am.
