GREAT FALLS, Mont. — Offensive production wasn't an issue for Southern Oregon on Thursday afternoon. Ariel De Dios Cruz scored a hat trick in a 4-0 beating of Providence (Mont.).
De Dios Cruz had his first goal in the 9th minute, punching in a low free kick from 35 yards out. The junior kept up the pressure, scoring his second in the 13th on a Cruz Cuevas-George assist.
SOU's backline limited the Argos to just two shots—none on goal—as they improved to 8-1-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play. The win was their third shutout and the largest margin of victory of the season.
The Raiders continued the attack and made it 3-0 in the 62nd minute. Jose Mondesi Munoz lofted a pass from the right side towards the far post before Agustin Gannat connected with a header for his second goal of the season.
In the 76th, De Dios Cruz completed his hat trick by converting a penalty kick after being taken down by Argos keeper Thomas Sine in the box. The Eugene product hasn't missed a PK since 2024 (3-3).
The Raiders held clear advantages in shots (16-2) and corner kicks (10-1). Providence fell to 2-6-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the conference.
Five yellow cards were issued; four to the Argos and one to SOU. Providence defender Sherry Msuku Jr. was given a red card.
