CORVALLIS, Ore. – The No. 2-ranked Eastern Oregon University volleyball team has been named the first Cascade Collegiate Conference Team of the Week of the 2026-27 seasons following a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Summer Slam in Fullerton, California.
The Mountaineers continued their unbeaten start to the season with four victories, including a pair of sweeps on Friday before rallying for a five-set victory over host Hope International and defeating No. 1-ranked Northwestern (Iowa) in four sets on Saturday.
Eastern Oregon opened the weekend with dominant performances against Life Pacific and La Sierra, sweeping both opponents to improve to 6-0 on the season. The Mountaineers then faced their biggest test of the weekend against Hope International, overcoming a two-set deficit to claim a 3-2 victory, 22-25, 25-27, 25-14, 25-22, 15-9.
EOU closed the weekend with a statement win over the nation's top-ranked team. The Mountaineers defeated defending national runner-up Northwestern, 3-1, winning the first two sets 25-14 and 25-19 before Northwestern took the third, 25-19. Eastern Oregon answered back in the fourth set, cruising to a 25-10 victory to complete the defeat.
The Mountaineers finished the weekend 8-0 overall and have already collected wins over multiple nationally ranked opponents during their strong opening stretch.
EOU returns to action Thursday at the I-84 Classic in Nampa, Idaho, where the Mountaineers will face No. 15 The Master's University before taking on Dickinson State and Montana Western on Friday.
