RAPID CITY, S.D.- Rocky Men's Soccer capped off an undefeated non-conference slate with a 4-0 win over Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday.
Three different Battlin' Bears recorded goals in the winning effort, as the Battlin' Bears tallied three second-half goals to cruise to victory.
How it Happened
Fynn Sweeting got Rocky on the board in the 36th minute thanks to an assist from freshman Evan Odle, tallying the lone goal of the first half to give Rocky a 1-0 lead going into halftime. The Battlin' Bears held a narrow shot advantage through the first 45 minutes, 6-5.
Rocky would break the match open in the second half, however. The first of three second-half goals would be an own goal by the Tigers, forced by Evan Odle again. Tristan Villanueva and Manny Mendez would both record their first goals of the season, as well as their first assists of the season, as the duo would combine for a pair of goals in the final ten minutes of the match to capitalize a dominant shutout victory for the Battlin' Bears.
Notable Statistics
Rocky narrowly outshot the Tigers 13-10, but put 10 of their shots on frame, compared to six from Dakota Wesleyan. Freshman Evan Odle totaled a game-high four shot attempts, two of which were on goal. Biruk Paulos-Negatu played all 90 minutes in goal, saving all three shots he faced to record his second shutout of the season.
