REDDING, Calif. - Oregon Tech rebounded from a Sunday road loss in a big way, holding Life Pacific to one total shot, claiming a 2-0 victory in a neutral site game at Simpson University.
Goals from Ryane Mattox and Olivia Mendoza were the difference, while the Lady Owls (2-1) defense stymied the Great Southwest Athletic Conference team.
Tech finished the day with a 12-1 edge in total shots and added all four of the corner kicks. Keeper Elle Hillar earned her second clean sheet of the year.
Mattox got the Owls on the board in the 13th-minute, as Alejandra Salcedo played a ball up the left side to the forward, who lined a 25-yard shot from a tough angle into the upper left corner of the net.
The attack increased for Tech in the second half, as Kaelyn Jaentsch nearly doubled the score, with a chance in the 56th minute clanging off the post. However, in the 70th minute, Mendoza converted, collecting a loose ball 25-yards out from goal and burying a shot over the defense and into the net.
Saturday, OIT closes out the weekend, meeting host Simpson at 11 a.m.
