Sammi Wellman joined the CCC in June 2019 after serving as the Director of Sports Information at California Baptist University for nearly six years. She helped the Lancers transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II and NCAA Division I during her time at CBU.

In 2017, Wellman was named a WoSIDA Woman to Watch and is an active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She has served on numerous CoSIDA committees and is currently on the CoSIDA U committee, which helps educate future sports information directors about the profession, and the CoSIDA Special Awards committee. Wellman also has presented on Photoshop numerous times. She was elected to the NAIA-SIDA Board of Directors in 2020.
 
Wellman has experience at every level of collegiate athletics after having worked in sports information at San Francisco State (NCAA Division II), Humboldt State (NCAA Division II), the University of Redlands (NCAA Division III) and Citrus College (junior college). As an undergraduate, the former Sammi Sheppard was an intern in the sports information department at Azusa Pacific University (NAIA).

Wellman graduated from APU in 2010 with a degree in journalism after finishing her athletic career in women's soccer as a goalkeeper. She ranks second in fewest goals allowed in a single season (three) and was the recipient of the Dr. Leroy Walker Champion of Character award for the Cougars her senior year.

Wellman and her husband Joey have a daughter.
