LC State Picked as Unanimous CCC Baseball Preseason Favorite

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Lewis-Clark State College was picked as the unanimous pick to win the 2022 Cascade Collegiate Conference title, the conference announced Monday.

The Warriors picked up all seven first-place votes for 49 points after finishing the 2021 season as the first CCC Baseball Champions with a 30-2 conference mark. LC State advanced to the NAIA World Series semifinals after qualifying as the host school but finished the year at 44-6. The Warriors lost some heavy hitters but return a good core from last year’s lineup.

UBC – which sat out the 2021 campaign due to border closures during the pandemic – makes its way back to the States and was predicted to take second with 41 points.

Oregon Tech grabbed third on the preseason poll with 35 points after finishing the 2021 season with a 23-25 overall and 18-14 CCC record (second place). The Hustlin’ Owls return two All-CCC first team selections.

Corban University – which grabbed the CCC’s automatic qualifier for the NAIA Tournament – and College of Idaho are neck-and-neck with 25 and 23 points to sit at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Eastern Oregon University grabbed 13 points to sit at No. 6, while Bushnell University grabbed the No. 7 spot in its first year sponsoring the sport.

The CCC conference season begins the weekend of Feb. 25 and 26, with the CCC Baseball Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, playing out May 8-9 at the regular season champion’s home field.
