Raiders pick up 2nd win against Park

ASHLAND – The Southern Oregon men's basketball team won ugly Saturday in the final game of the Flagship Inn Classic, hanging on to defeat Park Gilbert (Ariz.) 55-50 at Lithia Motors Pavilion.

Josh Meyer had his second double-double of the weekend with 12 points and 15 rebounds and Joe Juhala totaled 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting with three blocks. But the Raiders struggled outside of that frontcourt production and K'wan Carter's 10 bench points, turning the ball over 22 times and shooting 43 percent as a team.

They went 8-of-25 from the field in the first half and were tied at the break. The score was tied again with 10 minutes left when Carter put the Raiders up for good with a 3-pointer from the corner and a dunk in transition that went for a three-point play.

The tune-up was SOU's last before starting Cascade Conference play at home Tuesday against Oregon Tech. Both teams will enter the 7:30 p.m. matchup with 2-4 records.

Elijah Jackson hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight for the Raiders, and Jake Virga had six points and four assists.

Park's Erik Palmer and Trail Bates scored 13 apiece. SOU limited the Buccaneers to 39-percent shooting.
