SOU's Dyer named to Academic All-America team

ASHLAND – Southern Oregon's Bryce Dyer entered more rarefied air on Tuesday when he was one of 10 men's basketball players across the NAIA to receive College Sports Communicators' Academic All-America recognition.

Dyer made the second team and was the fourth player in Raider men's basketball history to become a CSC Academic All-American – joining Tristen Holmes (2019), Eric Thompson (2015) and Tim Weber (2015).

Last month, the junior forward from Medford was voted the Cascade Conference Defensive Player of the Year, an honor no Raider had received in a full season since 2006.

Dyer averaged 9.0 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.0 steals in conference play while shooting 50% on 50 3-point attempts. He logged four double-doubles and led the CCC in total rebounds for the second year in a row with 221.

Academically, Dyer completed a bachelor's degree in business management with a 3.99 GPA and was named SOU's School of Business Outstanding Management Student last year. He is currently working on a master's in business administration ahead of his final season with the Raiders.

Within the conference, Dyer is SOU's male representative in the CCC Association of Student Athletes.

In four seasons with the Raiders, including a redshirt campaign, he has compiled 781 points, 677 rebounds, 193 assists, 88 steals and 16 double-doubles. He nearly averaged a double-double as a sophomore, when he was an All-CCC pick after putting up 11 points and 9.4 boards per game.

Dyer was also one of eight Raiders named last month named to the CSC Academic All-District team, joined by Emmett Fenz, Trey Neff and Brady Rice on the men's squad. Eliza DiGiulio, Bridgette McIntyre, Keeley Wright and Jenika Zurita represented the Raider women.
