LANGSTON, Okla. – The Eastern Oregon men's basketball team's season came to an end Saturday night as No.4 seed Langston University claimed a 86–59 victory over the Mountaineers in the Second Round of the NAIA National Tournament, presented by Ballogy.
Eastern Oregon struggled to find its footing against the No. 9-ranked host Lions. Langston jumped out to an early lead, scoring the first four points and setting a physical tone. The Mountaineers countered with baskets from Keilan Torkornoo, including a three-pointer that brought EOU within 6–4. The teams traded points throughout the half, but Langston's consistent offense and aggressive defense kept the Mountaineers at bay. Capitalizing on opportunities in the paint and at the free-throw line, the Lions took a 35–25 lead into halftime.
The second half saw Langston pull away quickly, opening with a 16–4 run in the first six minutes. Eastern Oregon struggled offensively, shooting just 29.7% from the field in the half. Despite improving their three-point shooting, the Mounties could not close the gap as the Lions took advantage of 10–14 free throws, 18 second-chance points, and six points off turnovers. Langston's strong perimeter shooting and rebounding allowed them to control the paint, while EOU's bench provided energy but could not overcome the deficit. The Mountaineers scored 34 points in the half but were outpaced by Langston's 51, resulting in the 86–59 final.
Despite the loss, Eastern Oregon saw strong individual performances. Keilan Torkornoo led all scorers with 23 points on 40% shooting, including four three-pointers. Eamon Monahan added nine points and five rebounds, Trent Rogers contributed seven points, and Isaiah Jones chipped in eight points as the Mountaineers battled throughout the 40 minutes.
Langston was paced by Orlando Thomas, who scored 23 points on 67% shooting, and Cam McCoy, who added 18 points while anchoring the interior both offensively and defensively.
Eastern Oregon concludes the 2025-26 season with a 22–9 overall mark, capturing their first Cascade Collegiate Conference regular-season title since 2013, earning an at-large berth into the NAIA Tournament for the first time since 2023, and advancing to the Second Round for the first time since 2017. Under fifth-year head coach Chris Kemp, the Mountaineers showcased one of the program's strongest campaigns in recent history and will look to build on this success with multiple key players returning for the 2026-27 season.
