WVT Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. The following four CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the WVT Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during the period Nov. 15-21, 2021.
 
Women’s Basketball – Player
Southern Oregon University’s Kami Walk was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Walk, a sophomore forward from Eugene, Ore., turned in two double-doubles on the week, including a 39-point, 12-rebound performance Saturday against Simpson University that marked the highest single-game scoring total for a Raider since 1993. She had 29 in the second half to put the Redhawks away and averaged 29.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game on the week. Walk also had one assist, two steals and three blocks to help the Raiders to two wins.
 
Men’s Basketball – Player
Oregon Tech’s Garret Albrecht was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Albrecht, a senior forward from Redmond, Ore., shot 73.5-percent from the floor for the weekend, including tying career-high with 32 points on 15-of-17 shooting. He followed with 27 points in a tough loss to Montana Tech as Oregon Tech split on the weekend. Albrecht finished the week averaging 29.5 points and 14.0 rebounds per game and had three assists, two steals and two blocks on the week.
 
Women’s Wrestling – Wrestler
No. 9-ranked Menlo College’s Trinity Speredon was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Wrestler of the Week.
 
Speredon, a freshman 130-pounder from Layton, Utah, had a stellar showing at the Missouri Valley Open, going undefeated with three tech falls, two pins and a decision victory. She posted a 10-0 tech fall victory over 19th-ranked Cassidy Anders (Central Christian) and didn’t surrender a single point all weekend.
 
Men’s Wrestling – Wrestler
(RV) University of Providence’s Joel Avila was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Wrestler of the Week.
 
Avila, a junior 133-pounder from Indio, Calif., took second after wrestling up a division at the Spokane Open. The 12th-ranked 125-pound grappler posted two major decisions, including one over Gonzalo Aleman from Washington State.
