SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Davian Brown and Caden Starr scored 24 points apiece to lead No. 22-ranked The Master's (Calif.) to an 82-76 win against Southern Oregon on Saturday at The MacArthur Center.
Brown and Starr hit three 3-pointers each for the Mustangs (2-0). After SOU's Atmar Mundu cut their lead to 68-63 with five minutes left, Starr responded with back-to-back buckets inside and Johnny McWilliams slammed the door with a 3 in transition.
SOU forward Josh Meyer went for 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting and seven rebounds. Tez Allen turned in 13 points, six rebounds and four assists, and Mason Whittaker was the third Raider in double figures with 13 points, five rebounds and two steals.
The Raiders struggled from the field for the second straight day, landing at 39 percent. They played from behind for all but 10 minutes.
They'll be at the Lithia-Oregon Tech Classic next week, playing William Jessup (Calif.) on Friday and Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) on Saturday in Klamath Falls.
