LEWISTON, Idaho – After helping the LC State Baseball team to a 3-2 record and fourth-place finish at the 2021 Avista NAIA World Series, Warriors Jack Johnson and Trent Sellers were voted to the all-tournament team. The team was announced after the conclusion of Thursday night's championship game.
Johnson led the Warriors and was tied for second in the tournament in hits with nine. He hit .429 in the five game and slugged .810 with two home runs and two doubles. The senior from Seattle drove in seven runs and had an on-base percentage of .520. He had a strong week defensively as well with multiple diving catches in left field.
Sellers earned two wins on the mound for LC State, with one in a start and the second in relief. He did not allow a run in his nine and a third innings and struck out seven. The sophomore from Kennewick, Wash. got the start in the contest against Concordia (Neb.) and tossed eight innings with seven strikeouts. He scattered just five hits in his first-career Series victory. Sellers took over in relief in the eighth inning against top-seeded Southeastern (Fla.) and shut the door on the Fire. LC scored in the eighth, giving Sellers the win.
