BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The host UBC Thunderbirds hold the lead through 36 holes at the Cascade Collegiate Conference's season opening tournament held at Sudden Valley Golf Course in Bellingham, Washington.
Led by sophomore Ethan de Graaf's 2-under par, two-round score of 142, UBC holds a 10 stroke lead over Lewis-Clark State College with a collective 2-over 578 heading into the final 18 holes which will begin Tuesday morning.
The host T-Birds hold four of the top five individual scores following the marathon double round Monday at the par 72, 6500 yard Sudden Valley with Lewis-Clark's Devon Caruso trailing de Graaf by just a single stroke after rounds of 72 and 71.
Multnomah University improved their second round play by eight strokes, and sit third in the team standings with a 42-over par 618, 40 strokes off the lead.
With a second round 25-over score of 313, Bushnell University moved one stroke ahead of Oregon Tech for fourth place heading into Tuesday as the two teams sit 53-over and 54-over, respectively.
Powered by Tristan Belue's second round even-par 72, the College of Idaho saw a 25 stroke improvement Monday afternoon compared to their opening 18 holes, moving into sixth place at 69-over.
Walla Walla University managed duplicate rounds of 326 for a combined 76-over score while Corban University rounds up the eight team tournament with an 85-over 661.
Entering the 2021 CCC season as the consensus choice to reclaim the conference title they last won in 2019, the Thunderbirds are in prime position to clinch the first tournament of the year. However, a big final round remains at Sudden Valley which gets underway Tuesday morning with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
