KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lewis-Clark State College’s Clayton VanDyke was named the NAIA Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, announced Wednesday by the national office.
VanDyke, from Vernal, Utah, had a standout weekend in Spokane with a pair of automatic-qualifying marks and a provisional time in the distance medley race (DMR). He now holds the top NAIA time in the mile and bested the school record by nearly two seconds with a time of 4:07.79. VanDyke was .09 off the facility record set in the same heat.
The senior was the only non-Division I competitor in Saturday's 800m and finished second with a time of 1:53.01. VanDyke also helped the DMR hit a provisional mark in the event, clocking in at 10:16.91.
