CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Southern Oregon University women’s wrestling team has been named the Under Armour Team of the Week for Jan. 3-9 the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
The No. 3 ranked Raiders captured third-place in the NAIA division of the U.S. Marine Corps/NWCA National Dual Meet Championships.
The grapplers defeated three NAIA Top 20 teams in two days at the tournament with their only loss coming at the hands of No. 2 Life (Ga.) in the semifinal round 28-15. It was their first dual loss of the season. The Raiders now have a 7-1 dual record on the season.
The third-place finish was the highest ever for SOU in the tournament with their previous best eighth-place.
The Raiders will return to the mats Jan. 15, competing at the Oregon Classic in Redmond.
