CORVALLIS, Ore. –
The following 11 CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from Oct. 24-30, 2022.
Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Southern Oregon University’s Sarah Mauk was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Mauk, a senior forward from Hillsboro, Ore., helped the Raiders grab back-to-back 3-0 wins over the weekend. She scored two goals in the victory over Multnomah University to finish second on the CCC’s conference-only goals leaderboard with seven goals – six of which have come in SOU’s last seven games.
Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Carroll College’s Sarah Conway was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Conway, a senior goalkeeper from Belt, Mont., posted two shutouts for the Saints over the weekend. She finished with 11 saves over the two games, including six in Carroll’s scoreless draw with Rocky Mountain College.
Men’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Southern Oregon University’s Evan Norconk was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Norconk, a sophomore forward from San Diego, assisted on two of the Raiders’ goals in the 3-0 victory over Multnomah University before scoring against No. 19-ranked Warner Pacific University the next day. He took six shots over the weekend, putting all six on goal, and finished with four points.
Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player
No. 25-ranked Corban University’s Quinn McCallion was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
McCallion, a senior goalkeeper from Wallingford, U.K., grabbed his 14
th shutout of the year to set the bar as the most shutouts in a single season in CCC history, breaking the record of 13 achieved in 2018 by SOU goalkeeper Wyatt Zabinski. He also raised his CCC-best save percentage to .875 and lowered his conference-leading goals-against average to 0.28.
Volleyball – Attacker
Oregon Tech’s Nicole Reyes was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Attacker of the Week.
Reyes, a senior outside hitter from Fairfield, Calif., had an amazing offensive performance in her last games in Klamath Falls, Ore. She had a season-high 23 kills vs. No. 1-ranked Eastern Oregon University and added 18 kills against College of Idaho. Reyes averaged a staggering 5.86 kills per set while hitting at a .302 percentage over the pair of matches.
Volleyball – Defender
No. 1-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Kara Clayton was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Defender of the Week.
Clayton, a junior middle hitter from Sparks, Nev., had a big weekend at the net defensively, tallying 14 blocks in back-to-back wins. She was a consistent presence, averaging 2.0 blocks per set, while also posting two digs. Offensively, Clayton had nine kills and two aces.
Volleyball – Setter
No. 1-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Alexis McMurtrey was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Setter of the Week.
McMurtrey, a sophomore setter from Idaho Falls, Idaho, led the Mounties in assists once again, propelling EOU to two wins over the weekend. In seven sets, McMurtrey totaled 40 assists, averaging 5.71 assists per set. She also had two aces on the weekend.
Women’s Golf – Golfer
Corban University’s Kelly Dunn was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Golfer of the Week.
Dunn, a senior from Midlothian, Texas, anchored a Corban Women's Golf squad that secured its first team win of the season at the Bushnell Tall Timbers Invitational. She logged an 80 in the final round of the tournament to finish in a tie for second place overall.
Men’s Golf – Golfer
Southern Oregon University’s Nathaniel Frink was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Golfer of the Week.
Frink, a sophomore from La Crescenta, Calif., became SOU’s first-ever golf medalist at the Bushnell Tall Timber Invitational. He shot even par both days (72-72) to take first out of 44 golfers.
Women’s Basketball – Player
(RV) Southern Oregon University’s Kami Walk was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Walk, a junior forward from Eugene, Ore., helped the Raiders open the year with an upset victory over No. 4-ranked Carroll College. She scored eight of her 14 points in the fourth quarter and also finished with eight rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
Men’s Basketball – Player
No. 22-ranked Oregon Tech’s Erik Fraser was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Fraser, a sophomore forward from Portland, had a monster performance against No. 6-ranked William Jessup, recording a career-high 25 points (on 8-of-11 shooting, including four three-pointers). It helped OIT knock off the Top-25 squad 95-76.
