Rize Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. The following nine CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from Oct. 31 through Nov. 6, 2022.
  
Volleyball – Attacker
No. 3-ranked Corban University’s Avari Ridgway was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Attacker of the Week for the third time this year.
 
Ridgway, a senior outside hitter from McMinnville, Ore., showed up in a big way for her senior weekend, posting a season-high 21 and 14 kills against Lewis-Clark State College and Walla Walla University in three-set sweeps. She had just seven errors on the weekend, leading to a .373 attacking percentage and climbing from eighth to fourth in the CCC in the final weekend for kill percentage. Ridgway added 10 digs and four blocks defensively for the Warriors.
 
Volleyball – Defender
Bushnell University’s Callie Wilkins was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Defender of the Week for the second time this year.
 
Wilkins, a senior libero from Happy Valley, Ore., led a strong defensive effort for the Beacons as they held their opponents to a combined .109 hitting percentage. She finished the weekend with 40 digs to average 5.71 digs per set and also had three aces and five assists as the Beacons clinched a share of third place in the CCC with their two victories.
 
Volleyball – Setter
Bushnell University’s Makenna Northern was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Setter of the Week for the second time this year.
 
Northern, a senior setter from Brownsville, Ore., clinched the conference assists stat title with another superb weekend as she lifted the Beacon to a pair of wins. She led three players to double-digit kills in the win over LC State with 44 assists and recorded her ninth double-double of the season, adding 16 digs defensively. Northern finished the regular season with 8.98 assists per set overall (9.57 in conference matches).
 
Women’s Cross Country – Runner
College of Idaho’s Ellyse Tingelstad was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the fourth time this year.
 
Tingelstad, a junior from Joseph, Ore., repeated as the conference champion with a time of 18 minutes, 27.9 seconds at the 2022 CCC Cross Country Championships, presented by U.S. Bank. She led the Yotes to a school record total of 17 points and the fourth-straight conference title for the College of Idaho.
 
Men’s Cross Country – Runner
Southern Oregon University’s Isaac Fernandez was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second time this year.
 
Fernandez, a senior from Yreka, Calif., became SOU’s first individual CCC champion since 2015 and led the 11th-ranked Raiders to their first team title in five years with an upset of No. 5 Eastern Oregon. He cleared the runner-up by 5.5 seconds and became a two-time All-CCC runner after posting a time of 25:18.7.
 
Women’s Basketball – Player
No. 22-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Callie Stevens was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Stevens, a junior guard from Puyallup, Wash., was key to the Warriors' sweep of No. 25 Rocky Mountain (Mont.) over the weekend. She tallied 15 points in the first contest on Friday and hit big baskets when the team needed it most in the double-overtime victory on Saturday. Stevens dropped 28 points in the second game of the weekend, fueled by five three-pointers and 11 total field goals. She grabbed a career-high eight rebounds in the 80-73 win and averaged 21.5 point (while shooting 50-percent from three-point range), six rebounds, 4.5 assists and three steals per game.
 
Men’s Basketball – Player
(RV) Lewis-Clark State College’s Davian Brown was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Brown, a sophomore guard from Pasadena, Calif., had a standout weekend to help lead LC State to a pair of victories in the Clearwater River Casino & Lodge Classic over the weekend and was voted the tournament's MVP. He averaged 19.5 points per game with 15 against Park Gilbert (Ariz.) and a game-high 24 against Rocky Mountain (Mont.). Brown was efficient with a .560 field goal percentage and was 5-for-11 from three-point range (.455). He dished out five assists and grabbed eight rebounds.
 
Women’s Wrestling – Wrestler
No. 15-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Morgan Shines was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Wrestler of the Week.
 
Shines, a senior 136-pound wrestler from Pasco, Wash., dominated at the Mountaineer Open, going 5-0 to win her weight class. Every victory came via pin or tech fall as she recorded three tech falls and two pins on the day. Her biggest win of the day came in the first round when she earned a tech fall victory over Washington State's Julie Wilson, 11-0.
 
Men’s Wrestling – Wrestler
No. 8-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Kyle Knudtson was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Wrestler of the Week.
 
Knudtson, a junior 184-pound wrestler from Prinevile, Ore., went undefeated in four matches on the weekend. He won all but one of his bouts via fall and his most impressive victory was his final match of the day when he defeated Oregon State's Donivan Giangregorio in a 12-0 major decision. It led to Knudtson claiming the top spot in the 184-pound weight class at the Mountaineer Open.
