#4 Oaks Take Nine of 10 Weight Classes in 41-5 Rout of Vanguard

ATHERTON, CALIF. -- In their lone home dual of the season, the third ranked Menlo Women's Wrestling team took to the mat against a young and talented first year Vanguard squad.  The Lions put up a good fight against the Oaks, but when all was said and done, Menlo overpowered Vanguard 41-5, winning nine of 10 weight classes.  This is the Oaks first dual victory of the season, moving to 1-0.

Two Oaks earned victories by fall.  Junior Tianna Fernandez looked to be in midseason form just three meets into the season, taking down Viviana Davalos in 1:51 at 101, while freshman Desiree Jones earned a late first period pin of Mariz Soliman at 143.  For Jones, it was her third consecutive victory by fall, dating back to the Mike Clock Open.  Menlo would win four more bouts via tech fall, headlined by 10-0 techs by freshmen Haley Narahara at 123 and Shannon Workinger at 155.

Up next, the Oaks will head to Ashland for a dual with rival Southern Oregon.  The Oaks and Raiders should be the two favorites to win the CCC.  The dual will take place on 12/9 at 7 PM.
