CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 2021-22 CCC Men’s Basketball Tournament, presented by U. S. Bank, tipped off Wednesday night with two upsets and plenty of excitement. The winner of the tournament will be awarded the
Danny Miles Trophy, named after the Hall of Fame Oregon Tech Coach who won three national titles with the Hustlin' Owls.

#1 College of Idaho def. #8 Multnomah University, 99-65
No. 9-ranked College of Idaho rolled through to a 99-65 victory over Multnomah University to open the tournament. The Coyote bench outscored the Lion reserves 58-0 as Charles Elzie led the Yotes with a career-high 19 points. Taylor Peppinger led the Lions with 24 points, knocking down eight treys in the game.

#7 Warner Pacific University def. #2 Oregon Tech, 85-76
Oregon Tech opened the game on a 7-0 run, but Warner Pacific University battled back and grabbed an 85-76 upset victory. Thomas Miles provided a spark off the bench for the Knights, finishing with 23 points. Joey Potts led four Hustlin’ Owls in double figures with 13 points.

#3 Lewis-Clark State College def. #6 Eastern Oregon University, 58-57
In a game that saw nine lead changes and three ties, Lewis-Clark State College and Eastern Oregon University brought the excitement of playoff basketball. It came down to the wire, but the Warriors held out for a 58-57 victory over the Mounties. Silas Bennion led the Warrior offense with 16 points and grabbed a team best seven boards. EOU’s Phillip Malatare led all scorers with 23 points on 10-20 made shots to go along with 10 boards for a double-double.

#5 Southern Oregon University def. #4 Corban University,
In another exciting game, Corban University battled back from a 12-point deficit but couldn’t overcome Southern Oregon University as the Raiders picked up a 67-65 victory. Tez Allen paced the Raider offense with 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Jordan Newt led four Warriors in double figures with 14 points on the night.
