Menlo’s Martinez Named CCC Women’s Wrestler of the Year

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Menlo College’s Alleida Martinez was named the 2022 Cascade Collegiate Conference WVT Laboratory Women’s Wrestler of the Year, announced Wednesday.

The senior wrestler from Selma, Calif., boasts a 54-1 career record in two different weight classes, having not lost a collegiate bout since her freshman season. She is a three-time All-American – having only not won All-American honors when the Oaks opted out of the 2020-21 season – and won national titles twice.

This past year, Martinez went up a weight class to 116 pounds and once again dominated. She won her second CCC Championship easily with a trio of technical falls and a pin. At the NAIA National Invitational, top-ranked Martinez went undefeated to win the championship, outscoring her opponents 48-2.

With Martinez’s help, the Oaks repeated as CCC Women’s Wrestling Champions and finished third at the NAIA National Invitational.
