CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 2022 Cascade Collegiate Conference baseball season officially swings into action today, with one team returning to action and a new team joining the mix.
Lewis-Clark State College was voted as the unanimous pick to win the 2022 championship in the fall and currently ranks third in the NAIA. UBC sat out of the 2021 season due to border closures during the pandemic and makes its way back to the States, while Bushnell University begins its inaugural season.
Four teams begin the conference schedule Friday.
Bushnell University vs. Corban University
The Beacons and Warriors get the season going with a doubleheader in Springfield, Ore., beginning at 2 p.m. Bushnell comes into the contest hoping to snap a five-game losing streak and got its first-ever win against Corban in non-conference action earlier this season. The Warriors, on the other hand, look to build on a two-game winning streak.
UBC vs. College of Idaho
The Coyotes make the trek north to Canada to open the CCC slate with a 6 p.m. contest. UBC heads into the series undefeated at home but it’s been nearly three years since the two teams have faced each other. It's been 35 months since the two Cascade Conference rivals met, and it's been a full four years since the 'Yotes have notched a win against the T-Birds with UBC boasting a 14-game win streak. C of I hopes to break a four-game losing streak after dropping four non-conference games at LC State.
