CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Bushnell University baseball team has been named the Under Armour Team of the Week for Mar. 14-20 the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
In the inaugural season of Bushnell University baseball competing in the CCC, the Beacons opened their first ever league series with a four-game sweep over I-5 rivals Corban University. Bushnell won 15-5, 10-7, 4-1 and 9-7 to begin the conference portion of the schedule 40.
Game one was stopped after 7 innings with the score 15-5 which triggered the league 10 run mercy rule Jeff Fripp went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and one RBI for the Beacons. In game two Brandon Reed knocked a home run and had four RBIs in the win.
In the game three 4-1 win Abbott Haffar threw seven strikeouts and allowed just one run. In game four Jameson Hussey went 3-for-4 for the Beacons, scoring two runs and driving in three others.
Bushnell (6-19, 4-0 CCC) will have a non-conference tilt against Western Oregon University on Mar. 22 before jumping back into conference action Mar. 26-27 at Eastern Oregon University.
