ASHLAND – For the second time in as many meet appearances, the British Columbia Thunderbirds walked away with a Cascade Conference women’s title on Saturday at Raider Stadium after totaling 10 event wins in the CCC Track and Field Championships presented by U.S. Bank.
The Thunderbirds racked up 222 points to second-place Southern Oregon’s 148. They also earned two top individual honors with Coach of the Year Laurier Primeau and Track Athlete of the Meet Katherine Lucas.
Lucas, a senior sprinter, matched her own meet record in the 100 meters (11.78 seconds), broke a 10-year-old meet record in the 200 (24.28) and got another win in the 400 (55.94) to sweep the sprints. She also ran the first leg for the UBC 4x400 team, which broke the meet record by nearly two seconds in 3:47.37, and was part of a second-place 4x100 team.
The Field Athlete of the Meet Award went to third-place College of Idaho’s Catylynn Duff, who scored 24 points by winning the hammer, taking second place in the discus and third in the shot put.

DISCUS: Molly Guerra claimed SOU’s first women’s discus title in 17 years with a throw of 148 feet 3 inches, beating out second-place Catylynn Duff (144-5) of C of I by almost four feet. C of I had two top-four scorers, and Eastern Oregon’s Maggie Ledbetter got the third all-conference spot by throwing 139-2.
HIGH JUMP: Lewis-Clark State’s Jennah Carpenter took down a 16-year-old meet record by clearing 5-7 to upset the top seed, SOU’s Abi Stevens, who placed second with a mark of 5-4 ½. Corban’s Kendra Murphy took third, clearing 5-3 ¼.
TRIPLE JUMP: UBC’s Allison Macdonald, the pre-meet favorite, held true to her seed with a jump of 37-11 ¼ for the win. LCSC freshman Sydnie Zywina placed second at 36-6 ¾ and SOU’s Jenna Hodges was third at 36-1 ½.
JAVELIN: For the third consecutive season, Oregon Tech’s Alex Conley topped the javelin field by throwing 147-11. UBC put three individuals in the top-five and took the next two All-CCC spots with Hailey Kjaer (144-4) and Giovanna Janes (137-6).
100 METERS: While matching the meet record she established in 2019, UBC’s Katherine Lucas won the 100 in 11.78 seconds. She edged SOU’s Lindsey Bonney, the defending champion, who recorded a PR and became an automatic qualifier for the NAIA Championships by clocking in at 11.18. EOU’s Katie Brown as third in 12.15.
800 METERS: LCSC’s Geraldin Correa hit the NAIA ‘A’ standard and earned the 800 crown with a time of 2:14.00, and C of I’s Abbey Shirts made herself a provisional national qualifier with a runner-up time of 2:14.51. EOU had three scorers, led by All-CCC and third-place finisher Michelle Herbes (2:15.60).
400-METER HURDLES: LCSC’s Ashley Britt successfully defended her title with a time of 1:02.36 in a race dominated by the Warriors with four scorers, including third-place Sara Hathaway (1:03.92). EOU’s Morgan Bayes was the runner-up in 1:02.47.
200 METERS: UBC’s Katherine Lucas collected her third individual win of the meet and broke another meet record, clocking in at 24.28 seconds. She again edged SOU’s Lindsey Bonney, who hit the NAIA ‘A’ standard on the nose in 24.70 seconds. LCSC’s Anika Grogan (24.80) placed third.
5,000 METERS: C of I’s Sage Martin went out fast and never looked back, clearing the field by a full 25 seconds with a time of 17:18.99. Multnomah’s Shiloh Najjar (18:14.25) was the runner-up and SOU’s Haylee Brodahl (18:21.60) got the third All-CCC spot.
4x400-METER RELAY: UBC put a bow on their dominant weekend by setting another meet record, hitting the NAIA ‘A’ for the first time this season in 3:47.37 behind Katherine Lucas, Cayla Smith, Hassy Fashina-Bombata and Hannah Sobkowich. LCSC joined the Thunderbird in the ‘A’ category at 3:53.57, and SOU took third in 3:56.92.
