2022 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championship Highlights

GULF SHORE, Ala. – [RESULTS] The battle for the red banner at the 2022 NAIA Men’s and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship concluded Friday with UBC winning its second national championship in three years. 

Women's Results
4x800m – British Columbia with a team of Amelia Pfohl, Abby Ylipahkala, Rachel Mortimer and Holly MacGilivray with a time of 8:57.70 in the 4x800m. The Thunderbirds have won the 4x8 title three times. The last two titles were in 2018 & 2019.
5k – Glynis Sim of British Columbia won the 5,000m with a time of 16:50.95. Sim won by just under a minute. This is the second time someone from UBC has won a 5k. Previously it was won in 2015.
3k steeplechase – Jenna Melanson of British Columbia captured the title in the 3k steeplechase with a time of 10:16.87. Melanson finished 5.92 seconds ahead of the runner-up, Becca Richtman of Montana Tech.
British Columbia captured an early team lead on day two and kept building that lead up to 138 points to take home the red banner after earning points in 14 events.

Men's Results
5k – Tyler Dozzi of British Columbia claimed the title in the 5k with a time of 14:38.31.The last time UBC won a 5k title was in 2019
Life (Ga.), Southeastern (Fla.) and British Columbia battled for the top spot throughout day three. Life, however, after receiving points on six events (top marks in three of them) the Running Eagles took home the red banner with a total of 52 points, while UBC took third.
