2022 CCC Baseball Postseason Awards Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 2022 Cascade Collegiate Conference Baseball postseason awards were announced Friday by the conference office.

The College of Idaho’s Jonah Hultberg was named the WVT Laboratory Player of the Year, while No. 5-ranked Lewis-Clark State College saw Trent Sellers grab Pitcher of the Year and Jake Taylor earn Coach of the Year. UBC was awarded the Les Schwab Team Sportsmanship Award.

Hultberg, a redshirt sophomore outfielder from Boise, Idaho, has had a stellar campaign for the Coyotes and is just one of two batters averaging over .400 in the CCC. He leads the CCC in batting average (.423), slugging percentage (.725), on-base percentage (.498), runs scored (71), hits (94), and total bases (161). Hultberg also has 10 home runs on the year (fourth in the CCC), 46 RBIs (seventh in the CCC), 23 doubles (second in the CCC) and seven triples (second in the CCC).

Sellers, a junior right-handed pitcher from Kennewick, Wash., has been a dominant force on the mound for the Warriors. In 81.1 innings pitched, he has 110 strikeouts and 10 wins – both of which lead the CCC and rank 15th and sixth, respectively, in the NAIA. Sellers boasts a 1.77 ERA (second in the CCC and 10th in the NAIA), has caught 32 batters looking and holds opponents to a .176 batting average.

Taylor is in his fourth year at the helm of the Warriors and picks up his third CCC Coach of the Year honor after leading LC State to its second-straight regular-season championship. Under Taylor, LC State leads the CCC in batting average (.334), slugging (.566), on-base percentage (.431), runs scored (515), hits (609), RBIs (475), doubles (158), home runs (81), and total bases (1,032). On the mound, the Warriors are the top team in ERA (2.83), opposing batting average (.223), strikeouts (535) and wins (48).
