No. 5-ranked Lewis-Clark State College grabbed hosting duties after winning the regular-season conference championship to earn the top seed. College of Idaho picked up the second seed, while UBC and Corban University round out the four seeds at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
Action begins Monday afternoon with the Coyotes taking on the Thunderbirds at 1 p.m., while the Warrior/Warrior clash follows at 4 p.m.
The top-seeded Warriors come into the postseason after a historic year where they began the season 34-1, including a program-best 28-game winning streak. As a team, LC leads the CCC in batting average (.334), slugging (.566), on-base percentage (.431), runs scored (515), hits (609), RBI (475), doubles (158), home runs (81), and total bases (1,032). On the mound, the Warriors are the top team in ERA (2.83), opposing batting average (.223), strikeouts (535) and wins (48).
C of I boasts a 29-25 record entering the tournament and coasting a three-game win streak. As a team, the Yotes are second in the CCC in batting average (.283), on-base percentage (.366), runs scored (351), hits (528), doubles (111). College of Idaho leads the conference in saves (17).
UBC, which last year had to sit out the season due to the pandemic, makes its return as the third seed. The T-birds come into the tournament with a 27-22 record and six-game winning streak in tow. UBC ranks third in the conference with a .278 team batting average and is second in the conference as the T-bird pitching staff has caught 121 batters looking at the plate.
Corban rounds out the four teams, entering the postseason with a 24-22-1 overall record. The Corban pitching staff is second in the conference in ERA (4.55) and opposing batting average (.254). Offensively, the Warriors push the limits on the bases and sit second in the CCC with 95 steal attempts, as well as second in triples (14).
The winner of the conference tournament will secure an automatic qualifier (AQ) from the conference to the Opening Round of the NAIA National Championship Tournament. LC State already has a spot in the Opening Round with the host bid, so if LC State wins the tournament, the tournament runner-up will earn the CCC’s AQ.
