CORVALLIS, Ore. – Lewis-Clark State College’s Ashlee Bachman and Oregon Tech’s Jamison Guerra were named as the Cascade Collegiate Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Chair and Vice Chair, respectively, announced by the conference Tuesday.
In 2013, the CCC established the CCC SAAC program where each institution selects two committed student-athletes to assist the conference in order to perpetuate a positive student-athlete experience.
Bachman, a junior libero/defensive specialist on the Warrior volleyball team, will be the CCC’s national representative to the NAIA’s Association of Student-Athletes (ASA).
“I’m honored to have been chosen to take on this responsibility and be a voice for the student-athletes in the CCC,” said Bachman. “Going into the in-person meeting, I was excited to meet everyone face-to-face and get to know my fellow leaders on a more personal level. I got the opportunity to dive a little deeper into the NAIA and the roles that we student-athlete leaders get to fill. I know there are going to challenge this year and I can’t wait to take them on. I am confident in the leadership that surrounds me in this position, and I have no doubt that I will be guided through this year smoothly.”
The Lewiston, Idaho native,
who grew up watching Warrior volleyball and aspired to play for her hometown team, is majoring in exercise science and health occupations at LC State.
“This position gives me the opportunity to grow my leadership and communication skills while acting as a representative for both LC State and the conference,” added Bachman. “I got to take an inside look into the vision that the NAIA has going forward, and I am grateful that I get to be a part of the change that is going to positively affect the student-athletes in the NAIA. I cannot wait to dive in and represent the organization that I love and the amazing group of athletes that encompass it!”
Guerra, a sophomore guard on the Hustlin’ Owl basketball team, will assist Bachman as the CCC Vice Chair. The Sherwood, Ore., native is majoring in communications at OIT and last year was named to the CCC All-Academic and NAIA Scholar-Athlete teams.
“I’m really honored to have the opportunity to be vice chair for this group, I can’t wait to get to work,” said Guerra. “It’s a pleasure to be in the company of so many quality people who understand the hard work and commitment it takes to play at the NAIA level.”
Bachman and Guerra will work with the CCC SAAC co-advisors Sarah Freeman (Associate AD at Bushnell University) and Sammi Wellman (Director of Communications for the CCC) on CCC SAAC meeting agendas, speaker series, newsletter content and more.
