Rize Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. The following 10 CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from Sept. 19-25, 2022.

Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Carroll College’s Blair Stapleton was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

Stapleton, a senior forward from Billings, Mont., continued her unbelievably hot start to the season with two more goals over the weekend. She scored both the Saints’ goals in a 2-0 win over Warner Pacific University, marking her fifth two-goal performance of the year, and puts her season tally to 11 goals, which leads the CCC by six.

Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Corban University’s Makida Herbert was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Herbert, a junior goalkeeper from Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, led the Warriors to back-to-back shutout draws against No. 21-ranked Eastern Oregon University and (RV) College of Idaho, which are her fourth and fifth shutouts this season. Her five shutouts now tie her for fifth in the CCC, while she also sits third in save percentage (.870) by adding 12 saves with zero goals allowed this weekend.

Men’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Warner Pacific University’s Andrew Martinez was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the third week in a row.

Martinez, a freshman forward from Gresham, Ore., kept up his historic pace this weekend with five goals over two games, including a hat trick against Walla Walla University. He broke the WPU record for most goals in a single season after just nine games.

Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player
No. 21-ranked Corban University’s Quinn McCallion was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this year.

McCallion, a senior goalkeeper from Wallingford, U.K., grabbed two shutouts over the weekend, only needing to make two saves. Every cross to enter the penalty box was immediately swallowed up by the McCallion, who picks up his eighth and ninth consecutive shutout wins to continue to lead the conference in goals against average (0.000), save percentage (1.000), and total shutouts (9).

Volleyball – Attacker
No. 6-ranked Corban University’s Rylee Troutman was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Attacker of the Week for the second time this year.

Troutman, a sophomore outside hitter from Powell Butte, Ore., led the Warriors to another weekend of three-set sweeps, smashing 18 and 16 kills against The Evergreen State College and Northwest University, respectively. Her .319 attacking percentage for the weekend led any attacker in the lineup with 25+ attempts and moves her to third in the CCC in kills (3.91 per set). Troutman added 14 digs and three service aces in the backcourt and now ranks second in the CCC in service aces (0.51 per set).

Volleyball – Defender
Lewis-Clark State College’s Kenzie Dean was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Defender of the Week.

Dean, a senior libero/defensive specialist from Athol, Idaho, had a record-setting weekend to help LC State to a pair of victories. She set a Warrior record with 38 digs in a four-set match, which is also the third-most in any match by an LC State volleyball player. Dean averaged 5.22 digs per set over the weekend and dealt seven assists.

Volleyball – Setter
(RV) Makenna Northern was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Setter of the Week.

Northern, a senior setter from Brownsville, Ore., had one of the most remarkable weekends of her historic career, leading the Beacons to back-to-back five-set victories. Her back-to-back double-doubles set a new Bushnell career record in the category, including a career-high 22 digs against The Evergreen State College. Northern also broke her own single-match school record with 61 assists, and helped the team to 74 combined kills, breaking a school record that had stood since the first year of the program in 2006 (when sets went to 30).
