College of Idaho Men's and Women's Track and Field Begins 2023 Season

The College of Idaho men’s and women’s track and field teams began the 2023 season at the Stacy Dragila Open at Idaho State University on Saturday.
 
The season-opener saw Sage Martin and Abbey Shirts post NAIA “A” and “B” qualifying times, respectively in the mile. With conversions, Martin was fifth in a time of 4:57.80 to secure a “A” qualifying time and the third fastest time in the nation to date in the NAIA. Shirts was eighth in a converted time of 5:06.04 for a “B” qualifying mark. The time by Shirts is the 16th fastest time in the nation to date.
 
Among the other top finishes for the College of Idaho was an eighth-place finish by Charlotte Bowman in the 60m dash (8.02). Juniors Roby Young and Morgan Harrison finished sixth (5-0 ¼ / 1.53m) and eighth (4-10 ¼ / 1.48m), in the high jump. Addison Trent and Sophi Clay were 11th (16-1 ½ / 4.91m) and 12th (15-11 / 4.85m), respectively in the long jump. Clay and Jada Kinser were seventh (34-11 ¾ / 10.66m) and eighth (33-8 ¾ / 10.28m) in the triple jump. Kinser posted a pair of PRs on the day in the 200m dash (27.38) and 60m (8.43) dash.
 
In their College of Idaho debut, Addison Trent was 16th in the 60m (8.16), Graycee Litton was 13th in the 400m dash (1:07.16) and Zoe Butler was 13th in her debut in the 800m run (2:30.53).
 
"We were really proud of our freshmen men and women," said head coach Dominic Bolin. "This was their first collegiate competition and first indoor meet for many of them. They posted some good marks and competed tough. They didn't let the moment get too big for them."
On the men’s side, long jumpers Amari Evans and Kade Setoki led the Yotes with a fifth (21-2 ¾ / 6.47m) and sixth (21-1 ¼ / 6.43m) finish, respectively. Casey Senethavilay posted a time of 7.27 in the 60m dash on his way to a 13th-place finish. Plus, he finished 15th in the 200m dash with a time of 23.60.
 
Tanner Sackman had a pair of career-best efforts with a toss of 49-6 ¼ (15.09m) in the weight throw on his way to an eighth-place finish and he was 10th in the shot put with a heave of 44-09 (13.64m) and Trajan Holtzen took 11th in the 800m run with a time of 2:00.88.
