McMINNVILLE, ORE- The Mounties were back in action Sunday as they traveled to McMinnville, Ore. to compete at the Linfield Open hosted by Linfield University. Eastern had a strong showing as 11 Mounties were able to place. EOU also walked away with three division champions on the day.
The first champion for Eastern at the Linfield Open was Kaylee Moore from the 130 pound division. Moore was able to go 2-0 on her route to a first place finish. She started the day with an 8-0 decision win leading to her final match versus Fresno State's Jamilynne Gonzalez. Moore showed to be too much as she cruised to a 10-0 technical fall win.
The next first place finisher for the Mountaineers was Erin Redford from the 136 pound division. Redford put on a show, winning all of her matches handily finishing a perfect 3-0 on the day leading to her first place finish in the division.
The final first place finisher for Eastern was Liv Wieber from the 143 pound division. Wieber had another great day on the mat leading to her first place finish, taking her final match of the day by pin at the 0:58 mark of the match over Sitaly Macias of Big Bend Community College.
Eastern will be back in action Friday, Jan. 13 as they travel to York, Neb. to compete in the York University Duals and Open.
